The organisers of this September’s
RSS International Conference have announced that Nial Friel has joined the line-up of keynote speakers.
Nial is a Professor of Statistics at University College Dublin and a Principal Investigator in the Insight Centre for Data Analytics. His research interests focus on Bayesian statistics, the statistical analysis of network data and applied problems which require novel methodology.
Professor Friel’s talk will take place on the morning of Thursday 5 September, when he will talk about assessing competitive balance in the English Premier League and other adventures in sports statistics.
He joins Karla Diaz-Ordaz, Tim Harford, Erica Thompson and Hadley Wickham as keynote speakers at the conference, which will take place in Brighton from 2-5 September and is expected to attract over 600 data professionals from more than 30 countries.
