I’m a Scientist is an online STEM outreach competition that gets people working in science talking about their work with curious school students across the UK. RSS members are invited to apply to take part in the next online event, running 5-16 March for British Science Week.
Apply for I’m a Scientist at imascientist.org.uk/scientist-apply.
Taking part is an exciting and accessible way to develop your communication skills and gain a fresh perspective on your work, all while showing students the wide variety of possible roles in science. Everything happens online so taking part is flexible and can be done from your desk or smartphone.
There’s no need to prepare activities or take a day off work, just log in to answer online questions from students and engage directly with classes alongside fellow scientists in live text-based chats. Students then vote for their favourite STEM professional, who wins £500 to fund more science outreach activities.
'I enjoyed every second of I’m a Scientist… I will definitely be recommending it to my friends and fellow scientists,' Ananthi, scientist
'It was a real pleasure getting to talk to all the students… their questions were fantastic,' Ryan, scientist
