As governments and regulators grapple with the challenges of AI governance, this debate will bring together industry and academic voices to discuss the future of AI regulation in the UK. The session will be informed by the RSS's recent paper – AI regulation needs statistics: Evaluating reliability, uncertainty and risk in practice – which highlights the importance of statistical thinking in AI evaluation and calls for greater statistical expertise within regulators to support robust oversight.
