New joint editor for Series C

Thomas Kneib, a professor in statistics at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen will join Janine Illian as joint editor for Series C from January 2023. Professor Kneib’s research focuses on the development of flexible forms of regression modelling, including models with random and spatial effects as well as distributional regression models. Many of his developments include a strong computational component, based on Bayesian as well as regularised likelihood inference and enjoying close relations to statistical learning and machine learning.

Professor Kneib is deputy chairperson of Göttingen's Campus Institute Data Science and the German Consortium in Statistics DAGStat (Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft Statistik).

Together with Yarema Okhrin, he served as editor for AStA Advances in Statistical Analysis, the journal of the German Statistical Society, from 2021 to 2022. He has been associate editor for the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C (Applied Statistics), Annals of Applied Statistics, Computational Statistics, AStA Advances in Statistical Analysis, Biometrical Journal, and Statistical Modelling. Previously, he also served as dean of Göttingen's faculty for business and economic sciences as well as chairperson of Göttingen's Graduate School of Social Sciences.
