New members sought by RSS Glasgow local group

The Glasgow local group of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is looking for seven new members to serve on its committee.

As a committee member, you will get to contribute new ideas for local activities and help plan and deliver a programme of events. You will be joining an engaged and enthusiastic group from a diverse range of professions and sectors.

We usually organise five or six events a year to actively engage the local statistical community, as well as outreach activities with the science-minded population of Glasgow. Our next event will be the Annual General Meeting, where we will welcome Dr Liam Brierley (University of Liverpool) who will be discussing interesting methods of communicating statistics. This will take place on Wednesday 8 December 2021 from 3pm to 4.15pm. If you are interested in attending, please register for the event to receive joining instructions. We will be advertising further event details closer to the time.

To express interest or discuss joining the committee, please contact Kate Pyper, chair of the local group, by Monday 22 November 2021 with a paragraph (up to 200 words) summarising your background, why you would like to join, and what you will contribute to the committee. Please note that you will need to be a fellow of the RSS to take up a position.

The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
