Communicating statistics to the public is a really challenging ask of a statistician, but it’s increasingly important as numbers and data become more and more prominent in everyday life. Although it can seem daunting, communicating statistics through interactive games and activities is one of the most effective (and rewarding!) ways to get your message across. In this digital workshop I’ll discuss the benefits of using interactivity with an audience, show some examples from statistics outreach events, and walk through the process of designing an effective activity. I’ll also get attendees thinking about how they might plan, run, and present activities around their own work.
