RSS adopts new Diversity and Inclusion policy

The RSS now has a Diversity and Inclusion policy that summarises the key principles and methods the Society will use to ensure that we are an inclusive organisation. All areas of RSS activity share responsibility in the implementation of the policy.

The policy was proposed to Council in March 2019 by the RSS Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, which regularly reviews progress and provides links to related activities such as the meeting conduct policy which applies to all RSS conferences events.

Jenny Freeman CStat, who chairs the Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, said: ‘The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who enjoy statistics, including its members and stakeholders. Diversity is an integral part of our history, culture and identity. By having an engaged membership that is reflective of society, we benefit from a number of different perspectives and experiences that can help shape the Society’s future for all. All voices are encouraged, recognised and celebrated as they are key to the Society’s progression.’
