“What the official statistics system across the UK can learn from statistics in Northern Ireland” Ed Humpherson will consider the current challenges facing official statistics in the UK, including misinformation, resource constraints, deteriorating quality and growing demand for real-time statistics and data. He will show how, for these challenges, there are things that the rest of the UK can learn from the Northern Ireland approach to official statistics. He will also highlight areas of common challenge. A recurring theme will be the benefits of openness and humility in the production and communication of official statistics and data.
