Join us to hear from the Scottish Fiscal Commission about their role as fiscal watchdog and how they contribute to the Scottish budget process. They will also touch on their approach to forecasting, and a look forward to the next Scottish Budget and some of the fiscal issues faced by the new Scottish Government.

John will start by giving an overview of the Scottish Fiscal Commission’s role in the Scottish budget process and the fiscal framework agreed between the UK and Scottish Government. After an opportunity for questions and discussion, he will move onto describe the SFC’s operational model and how it differs from similar organisations elsewhere. He will finish his presentation by considering some of the fiscal issues faced by the newly elected Scottish Government over the next five years. Again, there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions after this part of the presentation.
