RSS Teaching Statistics Section announces prize winners

The Teaching Statistics Section are delighted to announce the winners of their newly launched Prize for Doctoral Scholarship and Research in Statistics Education:

First Prize: Muzammal Mann (MMU)

Runner-up Prize: Laura Johnston (UCL)

Reflecting on the award, Muzammal Mann shared: 'I am incredibly grateful to have received this award, which highlights the growing importance and impact of research in statistics education. While this is a proud personal milestone for me as an academic and as a PhD researcher, it is really a reflection of the collective effort at the Manchester Metropolitan University Q-Step Centre where our pedagogical approach focuses on making statistics more engaging, accessible, and meaningful for every student we teach.'

Laura Johnston commented: 'I'm delighted and grateful to receive this recognition from the RSS, and it's meaningful to see the Society celebrating research in statistics education through awards like this one. There's something wonderfully fitting about applying the methods of our discipline to understanding how statistics itself is taught and learned, and I'm proud to be part of a community that values this work.'

We would like to thank everyone who submitted an application and we look forward to celebrating the prize winners at the upcoming RSS Conference.
