Join us for the Responsible AI Hackathon

The RSS AI Task Force, along with Databricks and Manuka.AI, are holdnig a hands-on Responsible AI Hackathon, designed specifically for statisticians working across government.

This event will help you apply the UK Government's guidance on responsible AI to real-world problems in your department, bridging the gap between policy principles and practical implementation.

The event will be held over two weeks in July and consists of a full day workshop and a two hour showcase session held later in the month. The programme is as follows:

DAY 1 — Full Day Workshop
9th July 2026 | Databricks Office, London
Morning (Theory & Frameworks)
  • Introduction to responsible AI principles and how to apply them in practice
  • How to identify and evaluate high-value AI use cases in your department
  • Applying the Government's responsible AI guidance to real-world scenarios
Afternoon (Hands-On Building)
  • Form small, cross-department teams
  • Work on a provided sample use case — or bring your own
  • Use publicly available data relevant to your department to build a working prototype
  • All teams will have access to a Databricks workspace throughout the hackathon
WEEK 2 — Showcase Session
Tuesday 21st July | 2 Hours (Virtual)
  • Teams will present their prototypes, share what they learned, and discuss how responsible AI principles shaped their approach.
No prior AI or Databricks experience is required, just an interest in how AI can be applied responsibly within government. Access to the Databricks workspace will be provided in advance so teams can continue building between sessions.

Places are limited. Please register at the following link- https://events.databricks.com/Responsible-AI-Hackathon-July
