Our AI Task Force is looking for members who are interested in shaping the Society’s work on artificial intelligence.
Over the past year, the AI Task Force has worked to communicate the importance of statistics to the effective, ethical and safe use of AI, through a series of policy papers and evidence submissions to relevant government consultations. We have also been engaging with stakeholders across industry, academia and the public sector to translate the statistical nature of AI into practical recommendations for using and evaluating AIs.
As the scope of the Task Force's work continues to grow, we are looking to expand its membership with individuals keen to contribute their expertise and help shape the Society's work on AI.
We welcome expressions of interest from members with a wide range of professional backgrounds and levels of experience. In particular, we are looking for members who are interested in contributing to the group’s work on AI ethics, policy and regulation. We are also keen to invite applications from those interested in supporting the group’s work on AI practitioners and communication activities.
Members are expected to attend regular meetings and contribute to the Task Force's activities between meetings, for example by commenting on draft papers, helping to develop policy positions, contributing to events and engaging with stakeholders.
If you are interested in joining the RSS AI Task Force, please complete the expression of interest form by Friday 2nd October 2026.
