The power of data generated from statistical research and research/grant proposal writing - workshop

The Royal Statistical Society's Nigeria local group (RSS-NLG), in collaboration with Department of Statistics, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, with the support of the Management of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), organised a day workshop titled 'Power of data generated from statistical research and research/grant proposal writing'.

The event took place on May 11, 2022 at OYSCATECH and was attended by more than 50 participants drawn from various departments of the college.

The opening session of the meeting was chaired by Isiaka Adekunle of OYSCATECH, with keynote addresses from himself and Dr OM Olayiwola (the chair of RSS-NLG). This session was moderated by Adegbagbo Titilayo (information officer at OYSCATECH).

Olawoyin OI (Kano State University of Science and Technology) discussed a number of issues, including how to collect data that will align with organisational priorities. 

Dr Ayoade Iyabode (Tai Solarin University of Education) talked about how to incorporate collected data into organisation operation’s workflow. Dr Olayiwola, who heads up the statistics department at FUNAAB, discussed research and grants proposals writing.

At the close of the workshop, the members of RSS-NLG thanked Mr Adekunle for making the workshop possible. They also thanked Dr Ojo Victoria Oluwatoyin and Dr Oyelakin Adebanke - the head of the statistics department, and the Faculty of Science dean at OYSCATECH respectively, for their care, coordination and hospitality. The permission given by the university management at FUNAAB was also appreciated.
