RSS seeks nominations for two more Honorary Officers

The RSS is currently seeking nominations for two important roles at the Society:

  • Honorary Officer for Membership
  • Honorary Officer for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The Honorary Officer for Membership is the lead volunteer supporting and advocating for membership issues and representing the voice of RSS members. The postholder will play a key role in supporting the membership team to develop, deliver and monitor the Society's membership strategy.

The Honorary Officer for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is a new honorary officer role created to lead an important area of work which affects and impacts on every aspect of the RSS. The postholder will play an important leadership role in the coordination and implementation of the EDI agenda, plus the challenge of communicating to every RSS member/stakeholder that they play a role in ensuring it is integrated across the statistics and data community. It will require putting systems and processes into place, and it is envisaged that they would lead a group committee, members of which would be drawn from other all groups within the RSS.

RSS Honorary Officers are key volunteers at the heart of the Society who form a team responsible for coordinating policy on all themes and offering advice to Council on a wide range of issues, as well as influencing and shaping the strategic direction and policy of the Society.

Both terms of office are four years from 1 January 2022 and in both cases, the time commitment is expected to be around 10 hours per month, including three Council meetings per year.
