RSS West Midlands local group is seeking new committee members

The West Midlands local group of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is keen to recruit people based in the area, who will contribute ideas and oversee the planning and delivery of a programme of events. In particular, we welcome applications from outside academia and/or from Birmingham. The requirements are solely that you are an RSS fellow and will attempt to attend committee meetings and AGM.

The committee organises around six events per year, which are designed to engage both statistical and non-statistical audiences, inform on how statistics can be used to interpret and influence the world around us. Forthcoming events in our programme include:

  • Wednesday 16 October - Rugby vs Statistics
  • Wednesday 30 October - Judging a book by its cover --- How much of REF 'research quality' is really 'journal reputation'?
  • Thursday 14 November - Monitoring the world – the sustainable development goals and what they mean to statisticians
  • Thursday 28 November - The Statistics and Metaphysics of Causation

See further details on upcoming and past events.

If you wish to express interest or discuss the role, please contact Ian Hamilton at I.Hamilton@warwick.ac.uk

The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
