RSS Leeds/Bradford local group is looking for new committee members

The Leeds/Bradford local group of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is looking for volunteers to join the committee for 2020, as ordinary members. Ordinary members don’t have specific duties; instead, they contribute ideas to planning and delivery of a programme of events.

For the 2020 committee, we would particularly like to diversify and welcome applicants with some of the following characteristics:

  • Professional sector
  • Young statisticians
  • Student statisticians
  • Female statisticians
  • Bradford-based
  • Ethnic minority groups
  • Geospatial statistics
  • Causal statistics

The committee organises 4-5 events a year to actively engage the local statistical community and anyone with an interest in statistics. We aim to share statistical expertise with local organisations and industries, and communicate the value of statistics to school pupils and students. Our 2019/2020 events include https://sites.google.com/site/rssleedsbradford/home/2019---2020-session.

If you wish to express interest or discuss joining the committee, contact Ciarán McInerney at rssleedsbradfordgroup@gmail.com by 5pm on Monday 11 November 2019, with a paragraph (no more than 200 words) summarising your background and why you would like to join the committee. Please note that to take up a position you will need to be a fellow of the RSS.

The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
