RSS Edinburgh local group is seeking new committee members

The Edinburgh local group of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is looking for new members to serve on its committee for 2020.

As a committee member, you will get to contribute new ideas for local activities and help plan and deliver a programme of events. You will be joining an engaged and enthusiastic group from a diverse range of professions and sectors.

We usually organise 4-5 events a year to actively engage the local statistical community and anyone with an interest in statistics. We also aim to share statistical expertise with local organisations and communicate the value of statistics to students. Our recent events include ‘Quantifying ecological impacts of offshore renewables’, ‘Intergenerational fairness’, ‘Trends in outdoor air quality in the UK and their effect on human health’ and ‘Career young statisticians networking event’.

If you would like to express interest or discuss joining the committee, please contact David Ewing at dewing@bioss.ac.uk by Tuesday 3 December 2019, with a paragraph (no more than 200 words) summarising your background and why you would like to join the committee. Please note that to take up a position you will need to be a fellow of the RSS.

The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
