Statisticians for Society: Pro bono volunteering opportunities

The Royal Statistical Society has received further requests for pro bono support and we are seeking volunteers to work with the following charities (remember you must be an RSS fellow to apply):

  • Research design and analysis for Family and Childcare Trust (based in London)
    Estimated time commitment: Four days (some work to be done remotely) to be completed by January 2019.
    Requirement: Experienced social statistician with good technical knowledge and practical experience.
  • Data analysis for The Birchall Trust (based in Cumbria)
    Estimated time commitment: 17 hours work (remotely with a preliminary meeting on site).
    Requirement: Experience of data extraction skills and good research and data analytical skills.
  • Data analysis and statistical guidance for Population Matters (based in London)
    Estimated time commitment: two days (remotely with some face to face meetings)
    Requirement: 1-3 volunteers with data analysis skills and experience advising on suitability of data for various purposes.
  • Framework for Evaluating Project Outcomes and Returns for Community Lincs (based in Lincolnshire)
    Estimated time commitment: 10-15 days (remotely, but two site visits) to be completed by March 2019
    Requirement: experience in designing project evaluation framework, feedback questionnaires and non-financial measures of return (Social Return on Investment) metrics.
  • Data collection for Thomas Pocklington Trust (based in London)
    Estimated time commitment: Four days (remotely with an initial face to face meeting) to complete by December 2018.
    Requirement: ability to design a data collection system from an existing database, as well as good data analytical skills.
  • Survey design and data presentation for The Honest Truth (based in Devon)
    Estimated time commitment: not known (remote working with a preliminary face to face meeting)
    Requirement: survey design experience
  • Data analysis and survey design for Smallholding Scotland (based in Scotland)
    Estimated time commitment: 5 days (remotely) to be completed by December 2018.
    Requirement: survey design, sample size and analysis experience. Also questionnaire building experience.
  • Survey design and analysis for Mosaic Clubhouse (based in London)
    Estimated time commitment: not known (remote working with initial site meeting)
    Requirement: survey design and regression analysis skills.
