Seeking new members for the Reading local group

The Reading local group of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is seeking volunteers to join the committee for 2019.

We are seeking volunteers based in the area to join the local group committee and oversee the planning and delivery of a programme of events. The committee organises 3-4 events every year to share statistical expertise with local organisations and industries, promote specific areas of statistical interest with the Society's Sections and communicate the value of statistics to school pupils and students. It is also an opportunity to actively engage the local statistical community and others with an interest in data and statistics.

We are looking for volunteers who are particularly interested in taking on officer roles (chair, secretary, or treasurer) or becoming ordinary committee members. Please note that to take up a position you will need to be a Fellow of the RSS.

If you wish to express interest or discuss joining the committee, contact Jo Burke (burke.joanna@googlemail.com) by Friday 23 November, with a paragraph (up to 250 words) summarising your background and why you’d like to join the committee.

The new committee will be announced at the annual general meeting of the Reading Local group, taking place on 28 November 2018 at 18:00 in Room 1 of the RISC Global Café (35-39 London St, Reading RG1 4PS). It is free to attend and there is no need to RSVP.

Agenda:
1. Discuss the future of the group and appoint sufficient officers and committee members to ensure its continuation.
2. Drinks in the bar
