Profile

PhD and Chartered Statistician. Vice-chair of the RSS Statistics and the Law Section.

Background

Over 25 years experience as a researcher and consultant. Outputs include over 50 peer-reviewed academic papers and conference presentations, and more than 100 industry and consulting reports. Current research interests include statistics and the law (e.g. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1365712719875753 and https://academic.oup.com/lpr/article/20/2/113/6588525) and expert evidence. Current consulting projects include writing expert witness statements/reports, and designing training materials for barristers, soliciters and police investigators on how to engage with statisticians. Other active research and consulting projects include: agri-food experiments and associated modelling; medical trial planning and analysis; and investment finance return analysis (asset allocation, fund manager selection, benchmarking, forecasting and risk calculation). Chartered statistician since 2005. Other qualifications include: post-graduate degrees, with honours, from Université Catholique de Lille (EDHEC, France), the London School of Economics (UK), City University (University of London, UK) and Otago (New Zealand); and a post-graduate accreditation in statistics and data science from MIT (USA).
