Salary: £37,300 - £40,248 (£40,600 - £43,889 inc LW) depending on skills and experience.

The Occupational Psychology Services (OPS) team is part of the Government Skills & Curriculum Unit (GSCU) in Civil Service Human Resources (CSHR). It’s our job to deliver best practice occupational psychology insights and solutions to support the future of the Civil Service. This keeps us at the leading edge of assessment and selection techniques and digital developments and ensures an evolving candidate journey.
The role
You’ll play a key role in supporting the running of our existing business offer and contribute to growing our suite of online recruitment tests. These include assessing verbal ability, numerical ability and job-specific skills.
Working alongside a multi-disciplinary digital team in an agile project management environment, you’ll contribute to developing best professional practice. Evaluating and contributing to assessment blueprints and translating them into a workable trialling approach will also be key, as will using online assessment platforms and working with digital, data assurance and diversity colleagues to ensure new assessments are psychometrically sound, compliant, fair and meet customer and user needs.
About you
As well as in-depth knowledge and practical experience of test development theories, you’ll need experience of SPSS or another statistical programming language such as R. You’ll also be well versed in psychometric methods, modern statistical and psychometric theories, measurement principles, test design, and validation.
We’re looking for expertise in test development and psychometric methods, along with a good grasp of data analysis for CTT and IRT test analysis. Experience in managing large-scale research and testing programmes is also essential. If you have a Masters in either Educational Measurement & Statistics, Quantitative Research Methods, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Psychometrics, or highly-related discipline, so much the better.
