The Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Statistical Sciences. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Statistics, or a related area, with a clearly demonstrated outstanding record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates in all areas of Statistics will be considered, though candidates must have established strength in statistical theory and methods relevant to the health sciences. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated capacity to contribute to an undergraduate curriculum in the health sciences, which may be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments and experience, a research agenda that addresses questions relevant to the health sciences, and endorsement from referees. We seek exceptional candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental research areas. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. The candidate is expected to contribute to initiatives associated with the new Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH).
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, distinguished awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees of top international stature.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference.
Candidates must also show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and to the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment, as demonstrated through the application materials.
The successful candidate will also have an appointment in the tri-campus Graduate Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to and participate actively in the Graduate Department of Statistical Sciences.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
